In this time of economic uncertainty and desire to retire comfortably I am looking for others who have a successful online business or want to start one. I was thinking of opening a "store" on Ebay and want tips on how to get started and what kind of  merchandise to start with.

  1. Hi Jen! I don't own a store, but I have sold quite a few things in the past, using Ebay. I think one of the most important thing you can do right now, is to start building up your feedback score and aim for 100% positive feedback. I know, as an avid ebayer, this is one of the things I look at to determine if I will purchase the item from the seller or not. If his/her % is low, then I would definately not buy from them. I don't know if you have used ebay before, but feedback is left for you when you purchase something from ebay by the seller AND you get feedback from your buyer, when you sell things on ebay. The percentage is the average of both positive and negative feedback. I got started years ago when I sold my son's toys, mostly Power Rangers....they sold fast.

  2. Jennifer,
I have never sold on ebay, and quite honestly I have not bought on ebay either. However, it seems as if you can buy just about anything on ebay now. I would say try to sell things that you know, so that you are familiar with their value, availability, and popularity. I hope you have fun with your new venture and that it is successful.
